Today it’s Chris 3rd year anniversary of his injury. Time passing used to torture me to no end, the thought of Chris being sick like that day after day. But this year, I barely remembered about his anniversary approaching until 3 days ago. I think this is due to my making myself busy beyond normal but also because I have learnt from my spirituality teacher that the concept of time is so relative. Some people will learn in 1 year what others will not in 60 years of life. Time counted on a calendar basis does not really matter that much...

Below the 3 Year Milestones, Year 1 and Year 2 can be also found for comparison purposes.

April – June 2007 (25 – 26 months in CHINA)

·        China: 4 injections of 3 million neural fetal stem cell injections

·        China: 3 injections of adult bone marrow stem cells

·        3 months of daily PT, Massages, Acupuncture, One-on-One Carer

·        Drugs withdrawn: Clonazepan, Tizanidine, Gabapentin, Pregabalin (all anti seizure, anxiety, spasticity medication)

 

July 2007 (27 months)

 

·        Chris shows improved emotions, laughs, smiles, giggles, cries, overall visibly more “alive” face

·        Less sensitive to touch although still very spastic

·        Chris is able to stand on a tilt table and tolerates it well

·        More alert

·        One-on-One 6 daily hours of stimulation and therapies started

 

September  2007 (28 – 29 months)

 

·        Left arm spasticity seems better for the first time in very long (being able to keep it down)

·        Excellent eating and drinking (liquid feed decreased to 200 mls / day)

·        Wants to engage and interact, attempts to vocalize by making sounds 

·        Cod liver oil DHA, glyconutrients/ Ambrotose discontinued

 

December 2007 (30 - 32 months)

 

·        Chris tone and spasticity has regressed to pre-China levels

·        One-on-One 6 daily hours of stimulation is discontinued

 

February 2008 (33- 34 months)

 

·        Very high level of alertness, awareness, recognition, and emotionality. Chris seems to be blossoming from inside out through his facial expressions and increased attempts at vocalization

·        Chris is moved to another ward at the Jacob where people are less severely disabled

·        New vitamins/ supplementation program put in place

 

 

April  2008 (35 – 36 months)

 

  • Chris goes to China again: receives 6 injections of umbilical cord stem cells
  • Spasticity and tone still very high, arms really bad

 

 

POSITIVE developments in the 3rd year:

 

  • Continued increase in alertness, fully emotional responses, able to express all his emotions
  • Generally Chris looks / is much happier than before

 

 NEGATIVE developments in the last year:

 

  • Muscles atrophy and contractures, continuing fight with spasticity, no functional recovery

  • This was the year of STEM CELL TREATMENTS: 4 fetus neural SC injections, 3 bone marrow adult SC injections, 6 umbilical cord stem cell injections
  • PT, SALT, massages, supplements/ diet/ vitamins
