Chris had his first stem cell injection today via lumbar puncture. He went inside the surgery room at 13:15 and came out about 40 minutes later. He got 2 bags of IV's to keep him hydrated for the next 6 hours and also some anti-allergy drugs. Here at Beike they do not give imuno repressive drugs like in TianTan, just anti-allergy drugs to avoid reactions to the stem cells... the stem cells are foreign cells so I guess technically the body can attack and/or reject them...

While Chris was laying flat on his back for 6 hours as it's required post stem cell implantation, we went to an amusement park to get Gabriel out of the hospital. We also went to the West Lake and boy, Hangzhou is so absolutely pretty!

We went back to the hospital after the 6 hours and I cooked him a big yummy omelete (with tomatos, cheese, ham, and onions), but there was no way of waking him up as he was completely passed out. Mr. Yen said he would feed Chris AFTER he woke up... He also said that's how Chris spent most of his afternoon, sleeping...

Chris' arms are much better - not because of the stem cells yet, but because of the aggressive therapy and the continuous massages, range of motion, etc... I wish there was a way of keeping his arms this good once we go back to England but every gain on the status of his arms achieved in Beijing last year were gradually lost after we went back to England because it is impossible to keep the same level of care/ attention he gets in China... very frustrating.

Tomorrow it will be only 1 week here in China but as my mom puts it well, it feels like a year... I got Gabriel his first roller blades. I make him do a full circle on the floor and he has fun when I tell him he did it in less than 1 minute. Yesterday he was in the hospital with me ALL DAY long and that makes me feel incredibly guilty. But Gabriel befriended 3 kids/ patients and today he did NOT want to leave the hospital...   :)

Thanks everyone for the continued love and support.
