My parents went to visit Chris with Gabriel and said he was good today. He ate well his scraped apple (my mom says she will start bringing 2 apples because 1 is not enough anymore). Chris also had his supplements, and… my mom offered her cup of coffee to Chris and he opened his mouth as if indicating that yes, then proceeded to have the entire cup! Chris always liked good coffee.

Today my parents said they “feel” Chris understands what is being said. Chris was staring and paying a lot of attention as my dad was telling him about our upcoming trip to Brazil to spend the holidays with my sisters and their families. He was also very responsive smiling and laughing at my mom’s funny faces.

My mom also described some upward/ upfront type of movement Chris was doing with his trunk which I could not really make out what she was talking about. I hope this is not spasm or spasticity again, or anything that will cause more tone. She also said one of Chris’ eyes is again infected, this has been occurring often and his white eye ball is red releasing secretion.

I called Chris’ PT this week to tell her that in my view the botox had no effect whatsoever, but she feels stretching is easier and somehow it improved a bit. I told her Chris shoulders and back were so tight and so hard solid this weekend and I really want them to start working on increasing the medication ASAP. I know they need to do one thing at a time to determine what works and what does not, but if only Chris’ arms went back to a more normal positioning, if only his hands were not so deformed and crippled… Northwick team will be back on the 5th of January and I hope they will do more for Chris.
