Today only Gabriel and I went to the hospital as my parents went to church. We arrived a little before Chris’ dinner so I was able to feed him: first his supplements, an entire yogurt (fast and easy), baked potato with melted cheese (he did well specially given that baked potato is not the smoothest to maneuver, very dry in my opinion), a tangerine (he did not seem to enjoy it as much) and club style sandwich (only one bite was successful, Chris closes his mouth around the sandwich but does not bite off with his teeth).

Chris was making eye contact and tracking better than last week. He also did not seem as drowsy and sleepy. And the fact that he was better positioned on his chair made me feel better than yesterday. One of the staff told me that Friday they had Christmas carol’s sung for the patients and Chris was laughing hysterically. Chris was indeed emotionally responsive today. He gave me a BIG smile as soon as I arrived and he saw me, he chuckled when I encouraged his chewing, he was smiling back every time I told him I love him very much.

Gabriel loves going to the hospital as he has a new friend there: a little dog called Barney. Gabriel is joyful all day long and it makes things so much easier for me – I could not bear anything without our son…

My parents will visit during the week as usual and I am also planning to spend the day with Chris on Thursday before we all leave for our holidays with my sisters. Chris’ dad and stepmother will arrive this week to spend Christmas with Chris.
