CHAKRA with Orianne
by
Koo Cho
on Fri 17 Jun 2005 11:47 PM BST
Francois has been my French teacher for the last 9 months. After all that happened to Chris he told me about this very young girl called Orianne(21 yo), who he believes is a very old soul on earth with very high sensitivity and medium capacity - I guess some people are just heightened spiritually... she heals through Chakra and has helped many people. There's a link in the email below for the various parts of Chakra's energy points and colors. I am not an expert on this but will just report her interpretations after her 30 minute session:
RED - represents his roots to the earth and his relationship with his mother. Color faded - as all of them were faded - and the roots were not grounded on earth (maybe due to his coma state?). She put his roots back and also put the brightness back into the Color.
The three colors below were faded and she put the brightness back on them: ORANGE - represents Food & Sex YELLOW - represents Confidence and Self Control GREEN - represents his Heart and Love
BLUE - represents communication, this Color is supposed to flow from the neck to both his arms. She saw a knife across his neck - so he's unable to express himself or communicate. (I think this is symbolic for the tracheo on is neck?). She said that something was wrong on his right arm, there was a blockage on his right elbow not allowing the energy to flow. (This is a very interesting comment because this is the arm that has been getting splinted and has been the stiffest of all and there was no way of her knowing this). She says he is very scared but has the will to live and therefore he will fight. She put the brightness back on the Color (by colors read energy, removed the knife and unblocked his right elbow.
INDIGO - represents awareness and the sub-consciousness. Ariane found Chris in a dark room, in a corner, kneeling, very very scared and sweating (note: Chris sweats a lot but he was not sweating during the session, it's just interesting that she made the observation that he was sweating scared in that corner). She asked him to come and look through the window at his family, at first he was scared to go but he went and looked through the window and saw his family. she thinks that gave him some comfort. PURPLE - represents God and the relationship with his father. This Color was so faded that it was almost white. She tried different interpretations for this - she speculated that maybe Chris does not believe in God? White is not a bad Color because it represents purity. (I think black would have been bad?) Ultimately she took some pictures of Chris and back in France she will pray and do her healing sessions from there, she will contact me in two weeks. I truly believe that all this helped Chris - this is the type of thing Chris truly believed in and was very interested in... energy, meditation, spirituality. I thought that some of the things she mentioned were remarkable as there was no way of her knowing some of the details of Chris' condition.
She thinks bringing Gabriel to see Chris would help him a lot... Dr. Pambakian on the other hand is clearly not in favor of bringing Gabriel to the hospital and seeing his dad on this condition. I think Dr. Pambakian recommends this more as a mother herself of a 2 yr old and the fear that it could traumatize Gabriel. She also thinks that from a stimuli point of view, there are many other things that could be used to stimulate Chris other than Gabriel. Orianne makes her recommendation more from a spiritual point of view to try to awaken Chris by bringing the one thing that was the most precious thing on Chris' life... his son.
I will bring Gabriel tomorrow very quickly and see how things go. It's clear that in this whole process there is no "right and wrong", there is not a manual or guide of what steps to follow, often times I hear contradicting information (i.e. stimulate, no, don't over stimulate). I read a lot, listen to everyone but ultimately trust my instincts and trust that my insticnt will tell me what is best for chris - it's been like that my whole life and it worked so far. I regretted everytime I did not follow my gut instincts.
Tonight, when we left Chris, he was so beautifully and peacefully asleep - I haven't seem him with this restful and peaceful expression in the entire 8 weeks of this ordeal. I wonder if it was the Chakra?
Orianne just asked me to make a small contribution to any charity in the following days... I was helped, therefore I should help someone else... I think she lifted our spirits... http://www.healer.ch/Chakras-e.html

Meeting Chris neurologist
by
Koo Cho
on Thu 16 Jun 2005 11:33 PM BST
George reports:
Dr Pambakian arrived about 7:40 and spoke with Koo and I until about 9pm about Chris' current state, discussed the potential of Putney and some options for continued care and treatment in in the event Putney doesn't develop ? Koo to copy all her private insurance paperwork and give it to Dr Pambakian to determine what her insurance will cover and George to go to US Embassy to see if anything can be done to expedite.
Dr P stated that she is satisfied with Chris' level of progress to date. She stressed though - that it could be many, many months for him to heal and she could not project, nor would she consider projecting in protection of guarding Chris; to what degree he would heal. She considers every day a new day.
She stated there were not any new treatments or medicines out there that she was aware of that could be used in Chris' care. She stated that spasticity is a problem. She noted that she has changed his drugs for spasticity to disanodine and clasopen (spelling is probably wrong) and was using botox in his r arm. She feels that the drug change has been helpful.
We were concerned about Chris' head movements from side to side and front to back. She stated these were merely reflex movements.
Dr P would not set a timeline or a plateau to Chris' healing. She indicated that the healing process could go on indefinitely. She emphasizes.... the important point is that he is not regressing.... that he is very healthy and that he is moving forward.
We talked about things for us to do. She suggested:
talk to him, give him things to touch, tell him what they are. can even start with kids toys. get him to feel things - soft, hot- cold and so forth.
his vision is not focused as yet.. but show him pictures, tell him who they are, try and stimulate him
play his tapes of family voices, of familiar voices... play his favortie music
one of the first things we would like to see him do is "fixation"
On the progress scale, the Doctor felt that the next steps she would liketo see him develop in his healing process are
a) more purposeful movements,
b) can follow a command, and
c) can utter some sounds (he is developing this now)
PUTNEY
Dr P feels this is the only facility that is equippped to care for Chris at this stage. It is typically a three month rehab but offers extensions (additional funding needed) as he progresses.
The funding for Putney comes from the Primary Care Trust (PCT) in Kensington/Chelsea the Borough in which Chris lives. Until this funding is appropriated by the Commission there is nothing that can be done. We have been told this is a lengthy process. Rickey Godding has submitted the paperwork to the PCT.
What happens if for some unknown reason the funding is denied. What are our Options ? Dr P explained the following:
a) fight the commission decision, recruit a member of parliament (MP), create external pressure, take them to court. All of these alternatives would probaby take forever and are not practical
b) What private insurance is available ? Will private insurance fund Putney ? Will private insurance provide treatment and long term care back in the States ?
Koo will provide copies of her policy to Dr P - who will thoroughly investigate what is available and copies to Dad also to look at options in the US.
c) Go to the US Embassy in London to investigate intervention by the Embassy, if necessary; to ensure that Chris maintains equal status as a US Citizen for care as though he were a British citizen. This was done last Friday and the Embassy has promised to make a phone call
We all need to collectively pool our efforts and push for Putney care as soon as possible. Reportedly, it is one of the best facilities in all of the U.K.
Chris is getting better !

Another day
by
Koo Cho
on Tue 14 Jun 2005 11:29 PM BST
George reports:
Chris awake when we arrived @ 2pm... HR 100-105/20.
Physio's arrived for therapy -2:15pm. Katy, Sarah, & Sara. Renee did OT @ 11am.
Rickey Godding stopped by for a chat and confirmed meeting for 8pm on Thursday June 16th at 8pm with Dr Pambakian, Koo and I. Rickey stated that Headway meetings are on 1st Wednesday of every month.
Played Mom's and Kim/Lar & TT tapes. He appears to listen intently.
Barbara and Alex arrived for speech therapy at about 3:30. Barbara attempted to complete a blue dye water swallowing test but Chris was to tired today to complete the process. She will try again tomorrow.
Chris moving his head and neck forward without assistance and returning it back to back rest on his chair at his convenience.
Koo arrived from work and did her daily nursing and care duties for Chris. Ms Lily arrived @ 5:15. HR 115/24. She checked his lungs with stethoscope and reported good - no problems. Acupuncture done at 6:30
Noted that when Chris' head is leaning forward that he forehead stretches as though he is in deep thought or is puzzed ?
When you prepare him that you are going to lean right into his face and talk directly into his ear, as close as possible; he seems to recognize that command and turns his head to face you.
Evening ended with our daily prayers.

Importance of tapes
by
Koo Cho
on Sat 11 Jun 2005 11:16 PM BST
George reports:
Chris had a very busy day today. The physio's came in today for a short treatment- Saturday exception; due to his flexion spasticism and being unable to be treated when he had high fever. They performed some stretching exercises.
Jane mcDowell - reader from Interact, came in morning to read to Chris. His heart rate today is averaging 90-100 and his temp is at 37.4.
He appeared to listen very intently when I played the tape of donna/dad and appeared to recognize the voices. Ms Lily and nurses stress the value of the tapes to get Chris to recognize familiar voices. Ms Lily was in for session & recommends that we do private tapes, very personal one on one with Chris and have him listen to them with his headset on. She was very encouraged with his reactions when we speak privately into his ear. She recommends the headset. ms.Lily also recommends that when we talk to him that we whisper in his ear, very close and quietly. She observed this and noted that he listens and focuses.
The nurses waved their hands directly in front of his eyes and his eyebrows were moving inconsistently. Chris also focuses inconsistently and definitely tracks with his eyes around the room.
Chris' cough is much better as his infection clears. Chris was making some sounds through his speaking valve but it wasn't consistent.
Chris' physio and OT has slowed slightly over the past few days due to his infection and fever. Chris got shave today from Carlo.
Eugenia and Alcione came for visit which was very comforting to Chris. They talk with Chris and Alcione sings along with some favorite music with the disc-man.
Chris was in wheelchair for almost 4 hours today. He was very tired tonight... but still awake.

More therapies
by
Koo Cho
on Fri 03 Jun 2005 11:01 PM BST
This morning Chris moved up his arms a couples of times for Larry. It seems Chris is always a lot more active in the mornings.
Also the speech and occupational therapists seem to have had a good day where Chris responded to various stimuli – one being the recorded tape of his mother. Chris got very agitated listening to it and only calmed down after it was turned off.
He also reacted differently to various smells (quiet for coffee, moving heads for garlic). Fever was up and down, I gave him a wet bath and his fever went to the 36o’s, but went back again later in the day.
We agreed with the physios that regardless of what they do in the mornings, Chris will be on the wheelchair sitting for a couple of hours every afternoon – that is better for him to gain support on his head and be out of bed. He was still awake when we left him this evening.
On Monday, a tight CAP will be placed on his tracheo and if that goes OK for two days, it is coming off next week. For now, he has the speaking valve and we can hear him moan sometimes. Only very worrisome thing is his stiffness, I can not manage to do any of his exercises anymore so stiff he is both on his arms as well as in his legs.
