Chris was in bed and appeared relaxed when Koo, Gabriel and I arrived at Putney today. He perked right up when we walked into the room and started to make guttural sounds. When I leaned over to say hello, he focused well on me. As little Gabriel was EXTREMELY energetic today, Koo had to take him downstairs to visit a little boy named Antonio for a short while to calm him down and allow him to play. While they were gone, I pulled up a chair next to the bed and talked to Chris about things happening in New York (e.g. the recent transit strike, the beautiful Christmas lights, etc...) and how cousin Jen and his Mom will be here soon. He was very attentive and tracked well. As stated in my last blog entry, I feel this aspect in Chris has improved since my last visit to London in the summer where he was less consistent in tracking and focusing on you.

Today is the last day before a New Year begins. While most people LOVE the New Year’s Eve holiday, I personally, have always disliked it for a variety of reasons. This year, however, I feel somewhat different about this holiday. I am happy to be with my friend, Koo, and to spend quality time talking about the past, present and future with a different perspective from all years past. As 2006 rolls forward, I am reflective of Chris’ accident and pray to God to watch over him and help with his recovery each day, week and month. I also pray for the numerous other families with Sons, Daughters, Sisters, Brothers, Mothers, Fathers and Spouses who have suffered from brain injury. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. For 2006, I pray that God will shed his works of wonder on each of your loved ones and provide you, the caregivers, with the support and love you deserve.

A Hopeful and Happy New Year to all of you……Annemarie
