Hello, Gabriel and I have been back from Brazil since Sunday morning after our week down in SP with my two sisters & families, and Chris’ mom Maureen & fiancé Eddie. We all – especially Gabriel - had a great family time together despite the trip being way too short. I had planned to drive to the hospital upon arrival but it did not happen as I spent the day recovering from the jet lag and c. 11-hr flight…
My parents had been seeing Chris while we were gone and reported all was as usual, nothing new and Chris was in high spirits this past weekend… I can not wait to go see Chris this Saturday. I spoke with Chris’ masseur yesterday and F. told me she has been seeing Chris everyday for the last 4 weeks working on his hands/ feet.
I am getting started on prepping details for Chris’ up coming trip to China. Stem Cell treatment – Part II looks like this right now:
Chris, my mom, my dad, Gabriel and I depart together on March 20, 2008. This is exactly 30 days from now!
March 21 – 31, 2008: I will train the helper, talk to doctors, therapist, etc. This is hopefully the time to pretty much settle down and get Chris into a routine. Then Gabriel, my mom and I will leave due to work and school commitments.
My father will stay in charge till the end on the 18th of April, 2008… I am thankful for my father’s staying out there – again – taking care of Chris on his own for most of his treatment time. I do not think he is particularly “thrilled” about being out there alone watching Chris, but he loves me and he knows I need his help. There are certain things in life that ONLY your family can step in for… then, there are certain things that only a mother and a father will do for you… this is one of them.
On the 15th of April we have a US task force (Maureen’s partner Eddie and his son Ryan) flying from NY to Hang Zhou to help bring Chris back to London safely. It is a long flight, lots of jet lag and vacation time taken for non-vacation stuff so I am once more beyond thankful to Eddie and Ryan as it would have been impossible for my father to bring Chris back by himself. So it will be Eddie, Ryan, my dad and Chris together on the return leg… Thank you. I am thankful for all the help that always end up coming Chris’ way, allowing things to happen for him.
Given that I am expressing my thanks to all support surrounding Chris… THANK YOU to all of our friends engaged in the 3rd Fundraiser for Chris, not only to our dearest friends & families actively engaged in organizing it, but also to everyone supporting it from purchases of raffles and promoting its sales… I have lots of plans for additional therapies for Chris post stem cell … and I am thankful for the funds that will help pay for these "extras" for my husband...
I love this quote I got in a card from a friend:
“To accomplish great things, we must dream as well as act” - Anatole France.
BTW, tomorrow is my mom’s 68th birthday! Happy birthday to the best mom in the entire world!
With our deepest love and gratitude,
Koo, Chris, Gabriel - and Mr. & Mrs. Cho
